So hey there, how's it going? I was just taking a look around dA when I realized that I haven't done anything with a journal entry since November so I felt compelled to write. However, I realized that I haven't got much to say so I suppose I'll just type whatever is on my mind because, you know, it'll be super interesting.


First of all, for anyone reading this, I would really, truly, honestly, 100%, unbelievably appreciate some true/hardcore criticism on my photos. I know I said that I was a beginning photographer in November and I feel that I haven't progressed much since then so anyone who feels like critiquing will earn eternal love. Not from me since I don't know you, but I suppose you can have my eternal virtual love. Sure, that's a plan. Anyone who gives me some hardcore feedback and criticism on any of my photos will win eternal virtual love. It's 2012; virtual love will eventually take over anyway.

Next order of business that's not business at all. My summer break FINALLY got here and just as soon as I thought I could relax for a couple months, I looked over all my summer assignments. Well shoot. For my summer AP photo assignment, I'm supposed to take a photo every day that relates to whatever the theme is that week. This wasn't a problem at all for me at first. I was excited, genuinely really excited to do this photo-a-day-every-single-day-with-a-common-theme thing at first. And then I realized how challenging it's going to be. I picked up my camera and thought that I could snap a picture, do some editing, and call it a day but you've got to have an idea first. BUT before you have an idea, you have to come up with a theme. It's the second day of summer and I'm already out of ideas. (Can you run out of ideas if you never had any to begin with?) I was thinking about how challenging this was going to be when the next problem dawned on me. I don't do anything over the summer. Honestly, I don't do a thing. It's ridiculously hot where I live so I go into hibernation during the summer months.


There are 77 days of summer. This is a problem because I can't have 77 pictures of my house or my street. I'm going to HAVE to venture from the depths of my cool house into the sweltering hot 110 degree weather in order to get a picture. But I can't have 77 pictures of my neighborhood, either! So what now? Does this mean I'm actually going to have to be social for once and go into town? Because it's hot. It's really hot. And in case you haven't picked up on it by now, it's 110*F hot. I've not snapped one picture and I'm already worrying about this assignment. We'll see how it goes.

The third and last order of business that just so happens to be the least significant yet - I'm sitting on my floor as I'm typing this, staring at an abandoned, worn-out pink yoga mat because I don't want to exercise at all today. Not that this has anything to do with art or photography whatsoever;I just thought I'd tell you. Problem?


Well I suppose that's it for now. I'm not sure how to wrap this up, so I'll just leave a link to a song that's stuck in my head. That works, right?  Too bad it doesn't work for research papers...

Well hey there, DeviantArters!

I figured that I should write a little something about myself, in the event that anyone wants to know...which I'm not so sure is the case.  *ahem* Regardless - here are a few random facts that just popped into my mind as I was typing this:

1) My name is Lindsay.
2) My foot is currently asleep, but I'm not so sure this is vital information...unless my foot falls off.  It'll be pretty important then.
3) I enjoy playing the game "Would You Rather", especially when I find some awesome loopholes.
4) Though I am not majoring it photography, nor do I have plans to major in photography, I'm currently studying it as a student.  I'm not too interested in pursuing this as a full-time career, but doing it as a hobby would be/is rather enjoyable. I need all the help I can get! I'm pretty much just starting out with digital photography, photoshop, DSLRs, the whole nine yards so there's definitely a ton of room for improvement!
5) I hate the words moist, chunky, and panties...especially if they are said together in a sentence which, believe me, I've heard it on more than one occasion.  Lovely, isn't it?
6) I.LOVE.CHRISTMAS.  No seriously.  I want to marry it.  If I could live in the North Pole and work in Santa's Workshop (HE EXISTS, OKAY GUYS????? JEEZ!) I absolutely would.  Santa exits.  Do not try to persuade me otherwise.
7) My 11th year of life kind of sucked a little bit.  I found out Santa wasn't real (yes, I realize this is a contradiction from my previous statement) and I didn't get my Hogwarts acceptance letter - I cried both times.  
8) I drive like a grandmother.  Scratch that, I drive like a great grandmother.  I've literally had 70 year old women pass me and flip me the bird...yes, it's happened more than once.
9) I just Googled "interesting things to say about yourself" since I'm super lame and realized that I'm not a very interesting person.  That's pretty much all I've got to say about that.
10) I have an uber-talented sister who's way better at pretty much anything she does...she's equally as awesome as she is talented, which is pretty dang much.  That was a really poorly constructed sentence...in fact, most of these are.
11) I think being your own critic is a good thing (most of the time), so it always bugs be just a tad when people say I'm too hard on myself. Maybe there's some truth behind that, but I like critiquing myself!
12) I really enjoy anything active, especially if it's outside.  Hiking, biking, running, yoga, dancing (poorly) - whatever. I like just being outside.
13) I have a super stinky cat.  No, really ... she's like ... super smelly.  I've tried everything -baths, teeth brushing, perfume, dog perfume - nothing works.  I think she's just destined to smell bad.  That being said, she's pretty dang cute.
14) I tend to think I'm way cooler and funnier than I actually am.
15) I absolutely hate math.  I don't understand people that do...how can someone LIKE math??? It makes no sense! I remember being in first grade and thinking simple addition made absolutely no sense - just imagine how algebra is for me. **shudders**

Alright, well I suppose this is all for now.  I don't really have anything else to say that will be even remotely interesting...well, not like this was super fascinating, but you catch my drift.

Well I guess I should start out by saying hi, my name is Lindsay, and I joined mainly for the photography aspect of this site, but I do enjoy poking around...there are some seriously talented people here.

I'm in no way, shape, or form a professional photographer.  I wouldn't even say I'm officially a "photographer" yet...I have a camera, I have ideas, but that's about it.  I'm hoping this site will allow me to grow and become more comfortable with what I do but I guess we'll see what happens!

I don't know what else I have to say.  When I have something else worth sharing, I'll let you know.  Is anyone even reading this? Probably not.
